Description: In this class you will learn how to sew a Fringe Delta Kite. The kite you make in class
will be donated to the Foster Grandparents Fun Fly at the 2024 Washington State International Kite Festival . Each year we need close to 200 of these kites built to give away to kids during the event. You will be provided a kite skin, spar pockets, pre made keel, wood spars, kite line, one handle, and bag for the finished kite. Appliqué patterns/material will also be available in the class room. In addition to the kite you will sew in class, you will be able to pick out another kite kit to keep for yourself. For the 2023 event I had about 15 sewers making the 200 kites that were given away in August, at the WSIKF event. I will be giving away kite kits in 5 and 10 packs for those who want to sew kites for 2024. If you are interested, in sewing additional kites for the event, let me know in advance and I will bring a 5 to 10 pack for you. On YouTube if you search for “WSIKF Foster Grandparent Fly” you will find a video on how to make the kite that my son shot for me. Check it out to see what you will be doing in class.
What to bring: Sewing machine and notions.
